Biography

Since 2007, director Alexandra Broeder (Amsterdam) has become well known for combining her fascination for the concepts of childhood and horror movies. In all of her work, the balance of power between adults and children is a central theme. She has created indoor and site-specific productions of oppressive worlds populated only by children. Both at home and abroad, Broeders’ performances are praised for the intrusive style of acting from the children and the confrontational and unforgettable experience that the public is offered. Her work is universal, disturbingly addresses our adult sub consciousness and has won several important prices. “What Hitchcock could do with Birds, Alexandra Broeder does with children”, wrote a daily newspaper.
