Andreas Liebmann

Biography

In 2002 Andreas Liebmann co-founded with Beatrice Fleischlin and Nicolas Galeazzi the performance group GASTSTUBE which explores artistic formats and the collective development of projects. Since 2007 he’s also been writing, performing and directing in different constellations. His last performance at the HAU Hebbel am Ufer was "WIR – ein solo". His works have been presented at the Gessnerallee Zürich, at Südpol Festival Luzern, at FFT Düsseldorf and at the Theater Freiburg. His texts have been performed at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, at Burgtheater Vienna and Theater Freiburg. They were also published in DU – Zeitschrift für Kultur.

Andreas Liebmann explores the opportunities theatre offers as a fictional but also as an existing generator of communities. His texts often confront the notion of collective authorship and grapple with questions such as: how do you create a theatrical space that is at the same time a living space and a space for narration? Andreas Liebmann draws from experiences and approaches from various fields, as a consequence his works take on different shapes.
