After studying cultural sociology at the Latvian Academy of Culture, Arnita Jaunsubrēna decided to attend the Applied Theatre Studies programme in Giessen. Her first play, “Der souveräne Mensch – Warum Juwelen glänzen und Kieselsteine grau sind”, made with “Eliza Rescue Team” (Kim Willems and Lea Schneidermann), won the Körber Prize for Young Directors in 2013. The next project, “Wearing a bear”, was shown in June 2015 at the festival “Premieres” at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Alongside her own projects, Arnita Jaunsubrēna works as a dramaturge and a costume and set designer for other artists and theatre groups.
