Bassem Fayad

Biography

Bassem Fayad was born in Beirut/Lebanon in 1975. After graduating from Saint Joseph University in audiovisual communication he got a masters in cinematography in 2002 at the IESAV. He has worked as cinematographer for various Lebanese short films and television series. From 2003 to 2008 he was Director of Photography at 03 Productions in Dubai, since then he has been working as an freelance cinematographer in Beirut. Among other projects, he did the camerawork for Simon el Habres’s multiple award-winning documentary “The One Man Village.” At the 1998 Beirut International Film Festival he won the award for best student short film. For the 2003 documentary film “Beirut-Baghdad” he did both the camerawork and direction, and in “Safar” he collaborated with director Dimitri Khodr. “Road Beyond Sunset” is his second documentary, and he is currently completing a feature-length documentary film about fear as an instrument of political power.
