David Toop

Biography

David Toop, born in 1949, is active as a musician as well as a musical theorist. In the 1970s, he was involved in various projects with improvised music, sound art and ritual music, such as in Shamanian ceremonies. As an author he was known through his book “Rap Attack”. Since then, he has been tirelessly working on these subjects and on music in general. His last book appeared in 2016: “Into the Maelstrom: Music, Improvisation and the Dream of Freedom: Before 1970”.
