Ersan Mondtag was born in Berlin in 1987 and works as a director between the disciplines of theatre and music, performance and installation. In 2012 he founded the KAPITÆL ZWEI KOLEKTIF in Munich and collectively developed duration performances, experimental party forms and interdisciplinary works for the theatre. His productions were invited to the radikal jung and Berlin Theatertreffen festivals, among others. In 2016, the Theater heute journal crowned Mondtag “young director of the year”, as well as “set and costume designer of the year”.
His project “De Living”, which was shown on the stage of HAU2 in 2019, was created for the NT Gent and in co-production with HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Following on from this collaboration, Mondtag develops his first choreographic work “Joy of Life” together with an ensemble of nine dancers at HAU in 2021.
