Jack Halberstam is Professor of Gender Studies and English at Columbia University and has received numerous teaching awards. He holds regular lectures on a variety of themes including Queer Studies, questions surrounding transgender, pop- or sub-cultures, and the relation between aesthetics and resistance in the age of late capitalism. In 2015, he held the position of Diane Middlebrook and Carl Djerassi Visiting Professor of Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge. Guest professorships have also brought Halberstam to the University of Pittsburgh as well as George Washington, Princeton, and Alberta Universities. At the moment, Halberstam works on the monograph “WILD THING,” which discusses queer anarchy, performance and protest cultures as well as the visual representation of anarchy, and teases out intersections between animality, humanity, and environment. In 2017, Halberstam’s “Trans*: A Quick and Quirky Account of Gender Variance” will be published by University of California Press.
