Hector Thami Manekehla

Biography

Hector Thami Manekehla began his career as a dancer in 1995. In 1998 he met the young choreographer Thabiso Heccius Pule at South Africa's Soweto Dance Project. Since then the two dancers have been working together. Manekehla has worked in a variety of South African and international projects and cooperations, and has collaborated with artists such as Nelisiwe Xaba, Mamela Nyamza, Reginald Danster, Gary Gordon, Augusto Cuvillias, Kettly Noël, Moya Michaels, Salva Sanchez, Mia Haugland Habib, Fabrice Lambart and with visual artists from various fields. He is an active member of the network Sweet and Tender Collaborations. The work “P.E.N.I.S P.O.L.I.T.I.C.S” was created in 2012, also with Thabiso Heccius Pule, and has been shown at festivals in South Africa, Israel, Palestine and Spain.
