Ivo Dimchev, born in 1976, is a choreographer and performer from Bulgaria. He creates works in the border zones between performance, dance, theatre, music, the visual arts and photography. He has produced over 30 different performances, which have been seen in Europe, North- and South America and Asia, and has received numerous international awards. After finishing his master's studies at the Dasarts Academy in Amsterdam in 2009 he moved to Brussels, where he opened the performance space Volksroom, which presents young international artists. He is also the founder and director of the Humarts Foundation in Bulgaria and organizes an annual competition for contemporary choreography. Alongside his artistic work, Ivo Dimchev has taught at various institutions all over Europe, including the Academy of the National Theatre in Budapest, the Royal Dance Conservatory in Belgium (Antwerp), the Hochschule der Künste Bern and DanceWeb (Vienna). In 2013 Ivo Dimchev began a four-year artist-in-residence programme at the Kaaitheater in Brussels. Since 2014 Ivo Dimchev lives in Sofia, where he opened Mozei, a space for visual art, music and performance.
