James Bridle

Biography

The works of author and artist James Bridle transgress beyond the boundaries of technologies and disciplines. They studied computer science and cognitive science at University College, London, and hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. Their artworks have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. Bridle’s texts on literature, culture, and networks have appeared in magazines and newspapers such as Wired, The Atlantic, The Guardian, and The Observer. In their first book “New Dark Age”, published in 2018 by Verso and in the German translation in 2019 by C.H. Beck, Bridle discusses topics such as technology, knowledge, and the end of the future. James Bridle also wrote and presented “New Ways of Seeing” for BBC Radio 4 in 2019, which is based on John Berger's “Ways of Seeing” from 1972 and explores the impact of digital technologies on the way we see, understand, and interact with the world. In 2022, “Ways of Being. Beyond Human Intelligence” was published by Penguin Random House UK.
