Julian Klein

Biography

Julian Klein, composer and director, is artistic director of the group a rose is, as well as !KF, and teaches at the UdK Berlin and the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. He has directed numerous projects, including at the Staatstheater Hannover, for the Berliner Festspiele, for Hessischer Rundfunk and for DeutschlandRadio, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt am Main, the Museum für Naturkunde as well as the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. He has received several awards including the Kurt Magnus Prize from the ARD, the Niedersächsischer Förderpreis and the Danzer Prize for Contemporary Music for the performative installation “Brain study” by the group a rose is.
