Maryam Zaree, who was born in Tehran and who grew up in Frankfurt am Main, studied acting at the Konrad Wolf Film University Babelsberg. She became well-known through the main role in the feature film Shahada by Burhan Qurbani, for which she won various prizes. She has performed leading roles in a variety of European co-productions, including in "Le Chant des Hommes" by Bénédicte Lienard and Mary Jimenez. In addition she has been a guest actor at various theatres such as the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and the Gorki Theater Berlin. Along with Yael Ronen she wrote her play “Niemandsland” for Schauspiel Haus Graz and worked as its dramaturge. Maryam Zaree is currently in pre-production for her first film documentary “Born in Evin”, in co-prodcution with ZDF – Das kleine Fernsehspiel and ORF.
