Shireen Pasha is a director of fiction and documentary films, a teacher and a visual artist. She studied at the BFA National Collage of Arts in Lahore and at State University in New York. In addition, she attended several documentary film courses in Berlin during the 1980s. Her essays primarily deal with the role of the media, while her documentaries and docu-dramas examine social themes such as environmental pollution, maternal death and poverty. Pasha set up the film department in the National College of Arts in Lahore and headed it for 10 years. Her films have been awarded several renowned prizes. In Berlin she received the Prix Futura for her documentary “Life in the walled city of Lahore” in 1991 and for her work as a documentary filmmaker she was awarded the highest award from the Pakistani government, the “PRIDE OF PERFORMANCE”.
