Sylvia Habermann is an actress and writes texts. Besides her work at different theatres she has also participated in a few projects over the last 10 years that tried to rethink the space of the theatre. Between 2004 and 2006 for example she was part of an ensemble that performed in a bar in Berlin (directed by Tina Küster and Claudia Phillip). She worked with Bernhard Mikeska and Dominic Huber in Zurich (“Falls City”), was part of various productions on the 3rd floor of the “Volksbühne” and she also cooperated with Davis Freeman & Random Scream in Brussels (“Tearjerker”). Under the directorship of Sebastian Hartmann she was a member of the ensemble of the Centraltheater & Skala in Leipzig where she was involved in the experiment Skala. Skala was an attempt to create a theatre within the subsidized municipal theatre that is self-organised and is not controlled in a hierarchical way. Skala failed after approximately 8 months. Moreover, Sylvia Habermann has worked together with young people at different theatres doing workshops that ended in a performance. For one year she has been part of the “We like China and China likes us” project at HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Since that time she has been a guest at HOUSECLUB three times. In December 2013 she wrote texts together with young people. Some of them can be found in this journal.
