Trajal Harrell made a name for himself with his series "Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church", which brought together the tradition of voguing with early postmodern dance. Another series of pieces dealt with the work of the butoh artist Tatsumi Hijikata. The American choreographer is one of the most significant representatives of his generation. His works have been shown in numerous venues across the U.S. and abroad, such as The Kitchen, TBA Festival, Festival d’Automne, Festival d’Avignon and Panorama Festival. He recently completed the two-year Annenberg Residency at the Museum of Modern Art.
