Within a very short time the Sahel in Africa has become a highly complicated region. An entire generation of artists is dealing with the issues of freedom of opinion, human rights, the battle against fundamentalism, and peace culture. The festival “Timbuktu Is Back!” curated by Alex Moussa Sawadogo, is a platform for reflecting on the creative process of choreographers and dramaturges, on the connection between creation and social engagement as well as identity construction, social development and ultimately peacekeeping.
