Elpida Orfanidou was born in Berlin but grew up in Athens, where she first studied Dance, Piano and Pharmacy. She continued her studies in Choreography and Performance in Arnhem, Montpellier and London. Since 2009 she again lives and works in Berlin, but her projects have been presented in various venues and festivals throughout Europe. As a performer Elpida has worked a.o with Hermann Heisig, Gui Garrido, Mahela Rostek, Meg Stuart, Tim Etchells, Vlatka Horvat. Her solo project „One is almost never“, a trashy dance and exotic DJing performance which homages personal freedom, was presented at HAU2 as part of the 100°-Festival. Elipa also collaborates a lot with other artists: with Hermann Heisig for the duet „United States“, shown in spring 2013 in HAU3, with Juan Perno for the film-performance „Elpid’Arc“ and also with May Zarhy.
