Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra

Malawi Relief Concert

  • Music

Founded by Daniel Glatzel in Berlin in 2006, the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra draws on a colourful spectrum of jazz, traditional music styles from all over the world, avant-garde, independent, and electronica in an attempt to expand and transcend musical boundaries. Malawian music has also strongly influenced the compositions of the orchestra. Largely ignored by Western media, hurricanes and droughts have had devastating consequences on the East African country's rural population. These effects of climate change are exacerbated by takeovers from seed monopolies and the restructuring of the local economy according to capitalist, profit-driven logic. With the charity concert at HAU1, the musicians now want to draw attention to the situation in Malawi and the responsibility of the Global North: They are sending a signal of support and donating their fees to local aid projects that are working to counteract the dire situation.
