Yoann Bourgeois – Centre chorégraphique national de Grenoble

Celui qui tombe

  • Tanz im August

A miniature version of humanity, floating up in the air: six performers on a precariously balanced platform, either fearfully clutching each other or united in a cheerful round dance. The acrobat, actor, and dancer Yoann Bourgeois describes his pieces as games of mimicry and vertigo. “Celui qui tombe,“ which he created for the 2014 International Dance Biennial of Lyon, oscillates not only between dance and circus performance. It also alternates between complete collapse and a comforting sense of belonging. A work of great ease and precision, it is breathtaking in its sheer beauty.
