“Stress” is based on interviews with inmates at the Berlin Juvenile Prison. The image of young male criminals presented in the media is highly distorted. Their perspective plays hardly any role at all in the idea that the society outside the prison has of them. Berlin director Adrian Figueroa looks into the rage, powerlessness and longings of the young men that he conversed with over months. In their life stories, caught between radical refusal and the total desire to fit in, they relentlessly talk about what’s wrong: with themselves and with society. On the basis of the interviews, Figueroa developed together with the dramaturge Tunçay Kulaoğlu and the choreographer Kadir “Amigo” Memis texts and movements that will be brought to the stage of HAU3.

After the performance on 15.12. an artist talk with Adrian Figueroa and Marie Urban will take place. Marie Urban is a graduate at the University Aix-Marseille and in Hildesheim. As a research focus she examines the political dimensions in new dramaturgies and documentary practices in theatre of the present. Furthermore she works as a dramaturge for the “Freie Szene“ as for example the prison theatre aufBruch and is affiliated to the Marc Bloch research centre in Berlin.
