Chiara Bersani

Gentle Unicorn

Alternative seating and reclining options / Relaxed Performance

Part of "NO LIMITS Festival Berlin"

  • Performance
approx. 45 min.

In an unconventional and humorous solo, Italian performer Chiara Bersani transforms herself into a unicorn. She declares: “I, Chiara Bersani, 98 cm tall, I self-proclaim flesh, muscles and bones of the unicorn. As I don’t know its heart, I’ll try to give it my breath and my eyes.” A minimalist, precisely carved choreography about gazes and attributions. And how to return them or elegantly subvert them.

Chiara Bersani works in fine and performing arts. She also conducts research on body politics. As an actress and performer, she has collaborated with leading names of the contemporary performance scene in Europe, including Rodrigo Garcia, Jérôme Bel and Alessandro Sciarroni.

Afterward the performance on 6.11.: Festival Opening Party / With Station 17 DJ-Set / WAU / Admission free

Going to the theatre often requires long periods of sitting on more or less comfortable seats in confined spaces. We offer alternatives, so that more people can enjoy the event. At all events there are a variety of options for sitting or laying down, e.g. beanbags, sofas or mattresses. These alternative seats are limited. Please use the Early Boarding or contact us directly after purchasing your ticket.Going to the theatre often requires long periods of sitting on more or less comfortable seats in confined spaces. Relaxed Performances are aimed at everyone who feels more comfortable in a relaxed environment. The audience space is not completely dark. Strobe light, abrupt changes of light and sudden or very loud sounds are avoided. Audience members can move about or make noise. If you need to take a break, you can go out and come in again during the show.

For blind and visually impaired visitors, we offer an audio description (AD) for some performances. AD provides access to the visual elements – e.g. costumes, scenery, actions and movements – through a live audio track. Headphones will be available at the foyer of each venue. Some productions come with an integrated AD. Most ADs will be offered in combination with a Haptic Access Tour. In addition to the audio description (AD) blind and visually impaired visitors are invited to explore the performance space – e.g. costumes and objects on stage – haptically before the performance.
