Macho Dancer

approx. 50 mins.

“Macho Dancing” involves young men in Filipino night clubs performing erotic dances for the paying clients. Slowly gyrating to power ballads and soft rock, they cast a spell over the audience. In her solo,Eisa Jocson, who also danced in the 2016 video for “How do you like my cut?” by the musician Peaches, takes on this role of the macho dancer, bringing notions such as gender and social class into motion. Beyond classic gender roles, a clever play with the rituals of seduction unfolds.

This event can be combined with “Sènsa” by Paul Maheke, Nkisi & Ariel Efraim Ashbel.
