Ilya Gurin-Babayeu is a DJ, musician and visual artist from Minsk, Belarus. For the last three years, his practice has focused on media art. He is part of the Minsk cultural centre FABRIKA (formerly Emotion Factory), where urban culture is created and developed. Located on the grounds of the former Horizont television factory different rooms and spaces facilitate for exhibitions, screenings, lectures, discourse, concerts and raves. The cultural space has established it- self as a meeting point for creative and active minds from Minsk.

With the audio-visual collage “AKAB” (All Kids Are Batched) Ilya Gurin-Babayeu introspectively explores growing up in post-Soviet society in Belarus.
embryos XLP, 2020, 88 mins.
On the album “embryos XLP” Gurin-Babayeu reflects on his participation in the protests in Belarus against the outcome of the presidential election in the same year. The audiovisual work was compiled from videos of the artist, his friends and his hometown Minsk. Some of the most important videos were shot on Yakuba Kolasa Street, where the artist lived.

At the invitation of the educational platform “Skillbox”, Ilya Gurin-Babayeu scored the early Soviet animated film “China in Flame” from 1925. Invited artists set revived copies of the pre-revolutionary and early Soviet animated films to contemporary electronic music. “China in Flame” is the first Soviet animated film to be widely distributed.
There are two marked parking spots in front of the building. Access to the Parkett by means of a separate entrance with lift when necessary. Barrier-free restroom facilities are available.
