Mamaza

Eifo Efi

  • Tanz im August

Mamaza is a collective of three dancers who met while dancing in the Forsythe Company in 2005. In Eifo Efi two of them, Fabrice Mazliah and Ioannis Mandafounis, investigate their simultaneous existence by performing their own choreographies and texts independently of one another. The result is a free-flowing and witty duet which sometimes brings them together and sometimes sets them apart. Can two people be more than two together? Text and choreography are woven into a performance of constant telling and virtuosic dancing. It is a pure pleasure to watch two dancers creating an image of such multiplicity and complexity on stage.

Since 2009 Mamaza has created seven stage works, including installations and site-specific works for deSingel in Antwerp and the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt. This is its first appearance in Berlin. The company is known for its intelligent and often playful performances, which challenge the essential elements of choreography.
