Book premiere and Q&A with Natasha A. Kelly and Achan Malonda
The Black German community has pointed out for decades that racism has penetrated all of the structures within our society. In the public debate, however, the search for a solution continues to take place only on an individual basis. Unfortunately, it will not be until we understand the structural dimensions of racism that we will be able to develop promising measures to work against it; after all, structural problems require structrual solutions.
Natasha A. Kelly has been a regular part of HAU’s programming since 2015 and has made an essential contribution to furthering the discussions surrounding racism. With her new book, the communication sociologist has created a long overdue foundation for an informed dialogue about racism. On the basis of specific examples from the current debate, she shows where the structures of racism exist and how they have inscribed themselves upon German society. With this, Kelly provides elementary impulses for a productive discussion. For the book launch of “Rassismus. Strukturelle Probleme brauchen strukturelle Lösungen!” (“Racism. Structural Problems Require Structural Solutions!”), Natasha A. Kelly will be joined on stage by Achan Malonda for a live stream from HAU4.
