In Oberried near Freiburg im Breisgau, there is a former mining tunnel where Germany's cultural heritage is stored in the form of microfilm copies in case of disaster: at this “central salvage site of the Federal Republic of Germany”, certificates, original manuscripts, documents and images are documented for posterity. In “Bergentrückung”, Oliver Zahn interweaves this place with stories of preparation for future disasters, which will become more frequent with increasing climate change. The result is a two-channel video work between documentary and fiction, essay and myth, which will be presented at HAU4. On 5 November, following the film, Oliver Zahn will talk to a guest about the different ways of dealing with disasters in Germany and Japan.
