In the next edition of “Plattenspieler,” Thomas Meinecke meets the composer and musician Matana Roberts. The saxophonist and clarinetist was socialized by the jazz scene of her native Chicago. With an open approach, beyond common genre barriers, in her work she moves between experimental music, improvisation and visual art. In her long-term project “Coin Coin,” Roberts researches the connections between history, memory and origin.
