HAU Hebbel am Ufer, in cooperation with artists, city initiatives and other guests, is opening a project space at the former Post building opposite HAU2, where installations and films are shown, performative actions and workshop discussions about the future of housing take place and city tours begin. In 2018 the Deutsche Post moved out of the 1960s era Postscheckamt and the iconic tower block of the Postbank. Since then the various plans by the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district and the investors groups (currently: Art-Invest Real Estate, previously CG Gruppe AG) have been the subject of extensive discussion. The keywords here read like the script for publicly led power struggle. The site has therefore become a prime example of Berlin’s bitterly embattled urban space and real estate market.
