Open Society Day

  • Dialogue

HAU Hebbel am Ufer cordially invites you to Open Society Day. We also want to make an internationally visible mark for social engagement and lives of openness, diversity and freedom. At 5 p.m. tables are chairs are being set up all over Germany to make a mark throughout the country with many others! You can find further information here.

HAU Hebbel am Ufer presents current artistic positions from the areas of theatre, dance and performance as well as from music, the visual arts and theoretical discourse. A platform is created for Berliners as well as international artists, thus linking global topics with questions from our city. These links always raise the question of how we are going to live together in a transforming society. What is such a society, what does it look like and what can artists and an international production house like HAU Hebbel am Ufer contribute to it? We invite everyone to join in the discussion. The event will be held in German and English.

Registration at: assistenz.begleitprogramm@hebbel-am-ufer.de.

Moreover, we would like to point out a special demonstration on the same day: Under the slogan “Vorhang auf, Grenzen auf: Bühne frei! Die Vielen” artists, ensembles and other actors from the peforming arts and further genres join forces, to whom theatre and art means to work on a society consisting of people of all colours, various sexual orientations, gender variations and multiple religious beliefs and non-beliefs. Solidarity instead of identity!

Therefore, all colleagues from the arts and beyond are called out to fight together for a strong democracy, for a diverse and most of all, for a solidary society. With props and costumes glamour will be brought to this demonstration. Dress shiny, bring mirrors, flags and capes made of golden space blankets.

Meeting point: Square in front of Alte Münze (Molkenmarkt 2), Lepiziger Straße/ Wilhelmstraße at 2pm. End: around 5pm. So following you can directly join us at HAU.

Latest information for arrival

There is currently a construction site on Hallesches Ufer between Wilhelmstraße and Möckernbrücke underground station. There is a divided replacement route for pedestrians (right) and cyclists (left), which are separated by a yellow ground line. The carriageway is narrowed to one lane.

Travelling to HAU2 via U Hallesches Tor:

If you are coming from Hallesches Tor underground station, you will have to use an alternative footpath from Wilhelmstraße / Hallesches Ufer junction, which is separated from the carriageway by a construction fence – the actual footpath is currently closed. Please note: the alternative route is also used by cyclists. Pedestrians should keep to the right. We therefore currently recommend that visually impaired or blind visitors come to the HAU with an accompanying person.

Arrival HAU2 via U Möckernbrücke:

When you leave Möckernbrücke underground station, please stay on the footpath on the canal side until you reach Hallesches Ufer / Großbeerenstraße junction – the opposite side is currently closed due to construction work.
