Excess and hyper vulnerability – Jeremy Wade has made a name for himself internationally with his performances. His works are disturbing and thought-provoking: they revolve around queer and feminist strategies of world-making, relational ethics of care and zombie subjectivity. This practice runs through the body always entailing an intense socio-critical dimension. “The Clearing”, a solo directed and performed by Wade with live music from Marc Lohr and Quentin Tolimeri, reveals a series of procedures, characters and conceptions of space developed for the stage of HAU1. Wade’s HAU co-production is a hallucinogenic and flamboyant piece dismantling reality, evoking solidarity, in an attempt to address the structures that are making us sick. For Wade and his team there is a need to write new stories and narratives that can prepare us for a future where new clearings can occur.
