How can performative knowledge be passed down? How do we deal with the immaterial legacy of our collective past? What knowledge is worth preserving, and what is best left behind in the past?
In order to pose these questions, the British performer and composer Phoebe Wright-Spinks and the German theatre artist Oliver Zahn take a single folk song from the vanishing South Moravian tradition – with all the contradictory and problematic consequences that go along with this. They sing, take the song apart, put it through the mill, put it back together again and examine it from the viewpoints of British and German discourses.
Production: Oliver Zahn und Phoebe Wright-Spinks. In collaboration with Werkstattmacher e.V. und LOFFT – DAS THEATER. Supported by Stadt Leipzig, Kulturamt.
