“Was aus dem Elend jenes Tages erwuchs, ist Solidarität”

Three Years After the Halle Trial Verdict

With Naomi Henkel-Guembel (survivor and co-plaintiff), Caro Keller (NSU-Watch), Kati Lang (lawyer), İsmet Tekin (survivor and co-plaintiff)
Moderation: Doris Liebscher and Mani Tilgner (Initiative “Antisemitismus und Rassismus gemeinsam bekämpfen”)

  • Dialogue
German /  approx. 100 Min.

On 21 December 2020, the trial against the perpetrator of the anti-Semitic, racist, and misogynist attack in Halle on 9 October 2019 reached its verdict. The criminal proceedings involved 45 co-plaintiffs. The victims and their supporters showed a level of commitment that made the Halle trial something special – not just in German legal history but also in the history of left-wing solidarity.
Three years on, survivors and joint plaintiffs as well as allies will talk about the trial, unmet demands, and the mutual support that continues to this day, along with disappointments with politics and society. Together, they will address the need to continue fighting hatred towards Jews, racial minorities, and women.
